Brazil has consistently demonstrated its football prowess since winning its very first World Cup title in 1958, and since then Brazil has worked hard in international competition. Many of the greatest names in the world of football have emerged from Brazil's wins and losses in World Cup play. The following is an overview of some of Brazil's finest players that have taken part in the World Cup.

Pelé - born Edson Arantes do Nascimento, Pelé's talent was undeniable. He is the only player to have played 3 World Cup winning finals, 1958, 1962 and 1970. He also led his team to a second-place finish in the World Cup in 1970, scoring 4 goals in the process. Pelé was one of the most celebrated players of all time and is thought to be the best soccer player in history by many critics.

Romário - Romário is remembered for his performance in the 1994 FIFA World Cup, as well as his record-breaking 1977 goal against Argentina. He is thought to have been Brazil's all-time top striker, scoring more than 700 goals in his career. Romário was also the leading goal scorer in the 1994 World Cup, with 5 goals.

Ronaldo - two-time FIFA World Player of the Year and FIFA World Cup winner Ronaldo has gone down in history as one of the greatest players ever. He scored both goals in Brazil's 2-0 win over Germany in the 2002 FIFA World Cup, winning the Golden Boot that year. He also was the leading goal scorer in the 2006 World Cup with 7 goals.

Zico - widely regarded as the greatest Brazilian player to have never actually won the World Cup, Zico was known for his agility, creativity and dribbling skills. He was the top scorer of the 1982 World Cup, scoring 5 goals. Despite his excellent form, his team ended up 4th in the tournament.

Garrincha - this attacking right-winger was an integral part of Brazil's victory in the 1962 World Cup. Garrincha is remembered for his skill on the ball and incredible dribbling ability. He scored 2 goals in the tournament's final match, and was awarded the Golden Boot in 1958.
