Sansa Stark: Exposing the Trauma of War
The Physical Implications of War
Game of Thrones character Sansa Stark has endured her fair share of trauma from living through an ongoing conflict in her fictional world. In this blog post, we take a dive into her experiences and the physical implications of war that come with it.
Sansa experienced severe physical abuse at the hands of Ramsay Snow Bolton. Wildling Osha, whom she befriended, learned quickly that Sansa was not allowed to speak much and was constantly whipped and threatened. This is a particularly heartbreaking experience for anyone to go through, let alone a young girl.
Ascension To Power
In spite of her suffering, Sansa persevered. She went on to reclaim her throne as the true heir to Winterfell, and the North, at least partially thanks to her resilience and tropism for justice. Sansa’s ascension to power brought her the title of Lady of Winterfell, as well as newfound political leverage in a war-torn world.
The Scars of War
It is no secret that war can have a lasting impact on those who experience it. Sansa is no stranger to such emotional and physical hardship. Despite her success as the Lady of Winterfell, she still suffers from intense PTSD and scarring from her powerful enemies.
That being said, Sansa is an example of courage prevailing even under the most dire of circumstances. While her experiences of physical and mental torture may seem unimaginable, her tenacity for justice and success carry her through the darkest of times.
It is no easy task to come out from underneath the shadow of war. Sansa Stark’s advancements are a beacon of hope for anyone experiencing a tumultuous period in their life.
