CIA Conspiracies: Connecting the Dots

CIA Conspiracies Connecting the Dots

When it comes to mysterious organizations, the CIA is at the top of the list. The sheer amount of conspiracies and rumors surrounding the agency make it easy to spend hours scrolling through online conversations and reading forum posts.

Though skepticism of the agency is nothing new, recent events have given weight to some of the more outlandish theories. From international political scandals to connections to UFOs, there is something for everyone to chew on when it comes to CIA conspiracies.

CIA and Scandals

Though it isn’t always so obvious, the CIA is often involved in some major political scandals. While much of what the agency does is kept private - for obvious reasons - there have been a few high profile cases that put the CIA in the public spotlight.

Take for instance the Iran-Contra scandal. In 1986, it was revealed that the Reagan Administration, working with the CIA, had been funneling money to the anti-Sandinista resistance in Nicaragua. This transfer of funds was in direct violation of American law, and through it, the CIA became embroiled in a major international scandal.

CIA and UFOs

In the late 1940s and early 1950s, there were a number of UFO sightings around the United States. These sightings prompted the creation of the CIA’s Operation Blue Book which was meant to document and attempt to explain the strange events.

Though much of what was seen remains unexplained, the documents that were recovered reveal that the agency had a much greater interest in UFOs than most people realized. In fact, the CIA even kept a secret “X-Files” type of project dedicated to the events.

Connecting the Dots

As you can see, there is no shortage of strange events that can be connected to the CIA. But just like any good conspiracy theorist likes to do, connecting the dots to draw a larger picture helps to put the pieces together.

The recent scandals and controversies surrounding the CIA are sure to provide plenty of fodder for Internet sleuths and theorists. But until the agency opens up and tells it’s secrets, we’ll just have to connect the dots ourselves.
