Interview with Sir Paul McCartney
Interview with the Legendary Sir Paul McCartney
Here at the esteemed music magazine, we had the pleasure to interview the legendary Sir Paul McCartney! His impact on music is undeniable, so we couldn’t pass up this opportunity to learn more about the iconic musician.
We opened with a simple question, “How did you get your start in music?” To this he responded with a laugh and a warm smile. “It’s been quite a journey!” he began. “My father was a pianist so he gave me an appreciation for the craft. From there I just kept working at it, practicing and participating in school bands. Eventually I got recruited to join a little group known as The Beatles and the rest is history!”
And clearly, he’s still hard at work making music! We asked about some of his recent work, and he said,
“I’ve just released a new extended version of my ballad “Silly Love Songs” from 1976. It’s been a lot of fun to rediscover the track after so many years and give it new life. What I’m really looking forward to though, is my upcoming album McCartney III, which has been in the works for quite some time. I think it really captures the raw emotion and energy of my earlier work, but with a 2020 vibe.”
We also asked him about his thoughts on streaming music and the current form of the music industry. He seemed cautiously optimistic.
“I certainly believe in the power of streaming services when it comes to exposing new artists and giving them an avenue to reach larger audiences. That being said, I still believe strongly in the importance of physical media, as there’s something special about physically putting a record on the player or holding a CD in your hands.”
“And of course, as always, I think it’s important for performers to receive fair compensation for their work, regardless of the platform.”
We concluded the interview with one last question,
What advice would you give to aspiring musicians?
His response was simple, but telling:
“Work hard, listen to your intuition, and never give up!”
We want to sincerely thank Sir Paul McCartney for taking the time to chat with us - its an experience we’ll never forget!
