Heroes and Villains of Gotham: the Batman Universe
The Heroes
The Batman universe is filled with heroes intent on protecting Gotham from any and all harm. Among them are the likes of Batman, Batwoman, The Dark Knight, and Robin.
Batman, of course, is the legendary crime fighter who is often thought of as Gotham's primary protector. Wielding a vast variety of gadgets and martial arts skills, Batman's nocturnal activities have earned him a reputation as one of the most feared vigilantes in the city.
Batwoman is another enigmatic character to make her way into the Batman universe. She is Batman's closest ally and a master of martial arts who can often be seen fighting alongside Batman. Her determined attitude with her never-say-die approach to providing justice makes her an invaluable asset.
The Dark Knight, Batman’s cousin, is another hero that fans of the Batman universe will know and love. Despite a few run-ins with the law in his early days, The Dark Knight is a hugely talented vigilant that spends much of his time helping keep Gotham safe.
And finally, there's Robin - the adolescent sidekick of Batman. Sporting a cape and some impressive martial art skills, Robin has a major role in battling crime in Gotham and maintaining the peace.
The Villains
Despite the heroic efforts of these heroes, the Batman universe is also congested by a vast array of villains who try to make life difficult for Batman and his allies.
The Joker — arguably the most famous comic book villain — is one of the sinister characters that are often featured in the Batman universe. With an obsession for chaos, the clown-like figure is never content to stay idle and is usually intent on causing as much mayhem as possible.
Two-Face is another Batman villain who presents a formidable challenge for the Caped Crusader. The madman is constantly battling his two sides, each of them determined to see the other defeated. There's no telling what Two-Face will do next.
The Riddler is one of the most intelligent and calculating villains in the Batman universe. Never content to be outdone, the Riddler is always trying to outsmart Batman with his clever riddles and diabolical plans.
The Scarecrow is a crafty psychologist who uses fear as his weapon. He seeks out people's deepest and darkest fears and uses them to his advantage with the ultimate goal being to subjugate the innocent citizens of Gotham.
The Batman universe is rife with heroes and villains, each with their own motives and plans that range from the heroic to the downright sinister. Fans of the franchise are sure to be familiar with these iconic figures and the world that they inhabit.
